(OREEA)BYLAWS
ARTICLE ONE
NAME
The name of this organization shall be the Oklahoma Real Estate Educators Association (OREEA).
ARTICLE TWO
PURPOSE OF ASSOCIATION
- EDUCATION: To facilitate communication and cooperation between and among all concerned with instruction, administration, and regulation of real estate education and to raise the competence and performance of these people to the highest level possible.
- PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE: To promote education, professional standards of competence, performance, and ethics among all real estate practitioners.
- MARKETS: To advocate and promote efficient and equitable real estate markets through education of the general public so that real estate users and consumers may engage in transactions with the greatest possible knowledge and assurance of fair play.
- OPTIMAL USE: To continually educate toward and encourage wise and optimal use of our real estate resources.
ARTICLE THREE
MEMBERSHIP
Section 1: A member shall be a person actively involved in or concerned with real estate education and training whose dues are paid for the current year.
Section 2: Each member in good standing shall have a vote and full membership rights.
Section 3: Any person desiring membership shall fill out the prescribed application form and submit it to the Treasurer of the Association. Such membership shall be considered and approved by the Treasurer of the Association.
Section 4: A member who wishes to resign from the Association shall do so by writing a letter of resignation to the Association President. Any member who fails to maintain good standing shall be withdrawn from the Association by appropriate action at a membership meeting.
Section 5: All members of the Oklahoma Real Estate Educators Association shall also be members of our Regional Conference Organization, the South Central Educators Group, Inc.
ARTICLE FOUR
OFFICERS
Section 1: The officers of the Oklahoma Real Estate Educators Association shall be a President, a President Elect, a Secretary, and a Treasurer.
Section 2: Officers shall be elected annually by the membership and shall hold office for one year or until their successors are chosen.
Section 3: Duties of the Officers shall be as follows:(a) The President shall preside at all meetings of the Association and appoint all committees and shall direct the administration of the business of the Association. The President shall be an ex-officio member of all committees.
(b) The President-Elect shall act for the President in his/her absence at all meetings of the Association and of committees. In the event of the resignation, incapacity, or death of the President, the President Elect shall become President for the remainder of that term of the office. In the event the President Elect is unwilling or unable to assume the duties of the office of the President, the membership shall elect a new President who shall serve for the remainder of the term.
(c) The Secretary shall be responsible for keeping all records and minutes of the Association and committees except financial records. He/she shall issue notices and keep minutes for all meetings. He/she shall deliver records to the incoming Secretary upon retirement from office. The Secretary shall keep records of an elected and standing committees and their chairs.
(d) The Treasurer shall collect all dues and assessments, shall make all disbursements, and shall keep such financial records as may be required by the Association. The Treasurer shall submit financial records for audit when required by the President and or Membership and shall deliver them to the incoming Treasurer upon retirement from office. He/She shall furnish financial reports to the membership at regular meetings.
ARTICLE FIVE
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Section 1: There shall not be a board of directors. Such duties shall be upon the membership and such actions conducted during Association meetings.
Section 2: The duties of the membership shall be to determine the policies of the Association within the limits prescribed by this Constitution and the Bylaws of the Oklahoma Real Estate Educators Association (OREEA).
Section 3: The membership, during Association meetings, shall counsel the President in the conduct of the office by majority vote.
Section 4: The membership may request an audit of Association records by majority vote during meetings of the Association.
Section 5: The membership may fill a vacancy occurring during the term of any officer of the Association by electing another officer to serve for the unexpired term during an Association meeting. The President shall facilitate this process.
Section 6: Membership of the Oklahoma Real Estate Commission Staff shall be ex-officio members.
ARTICLE SIX
MEETINGS
Section 1: Meetings of the Association shall be held as determined by a vote of the membership during a regular meeting.
Section 2: A 55% of the membership shall constitute a quorum.
ARTICLE SEVEN
ELECTION OF OFFICERS
Section 1: The officer shall be nominated and elected at a regular meeting in April from the membership in attendance at the meeting. Announcement of such Nomination/election shall be made at least one meeting prior to the election. Nominations may be made by any member in good standing. The New officers shall preside beginning with the May Meeting.
ARTICLE EIGHT
DUES
Section 1: The dues shall be Seventy-five Dollars ($75.00) per calendar year. The dues are for the exclusive use of the Association.
Section 2: Dues may be changed as needed by a vote of membership.
Section 3: Dues are due on July 1 of each calendar year unless change by a vote of membership.
ARTICLE NINE
COMMITTEES
Section 1: The President-elect shall appoint the following standing committees upon assuming the office of President.
Section 2: The duties of the standing committees shall be as follows:(a) The program committee shall arrange for and present at the meeting of the Association, programs of value, interest to the members and be consistent with the purposes of the Association as needed or desired by the membership.
(b) The Membership Committee shall solicit members for the Association within the limits provided by the by-laws.
ARTICLE TEN
BYLAWS
Section 1: Parliamentary procedures in all meetings of the Association shall be in accordance with Robert’s Rules of Order, latest edition. A Copy of which shall be in the possession of the Treasurer.
ARTICLE ELEVEN
AMENDMENTS
Section 1: These bylaws/Constitution may be amended by a 55% vote of the quorum.
Section 2: Proposed amendments must be submitted to the Secretary of the Association during a regularly scheduled meeting of the Association. Copies of the proposed amendment(s) shall be made available to all members in such fashion as the Secretary may deem necessary. Action on the proposed amendment may be taken during the subsequent meeting of the Association, but the membership may vote to take action at a later meeting. In no case will action on a proposed amendment be delayed more than two months.
